Decide which screenshots need special handling

Receipts, private conversations, personal reference images, and account screens can contain details you would not want to show while scrolling Photos. Avoid creating screenshots of passwords, recovery codes, or financial secrets when a purpose-built secure tool is a better choice.

Review the image before storing it

Check for names, addresses, account numbers, notifications, and other details around the information you intended to capture. A screenshot can include more than its main subject. Before sharing, create an appropriately redacted copy with tools you trust and verify the saved result.

Give selected screenshots a dedicated place

You can use Apple’s Hidden album or try a separate photo vault. In PhotoSafe, import selected screenshots into a private album and confirm they open. Use meaningful album categories without putting unnecessary personal details in their names.

Remember the original and shared copies

Importing into a vault creates a separate workflow; it does not recall message attachments, shared albums, or screenshots saved elsewhere. Review originals only after you understand backups and recovery. Be careful with Recently Deleted and iCloud synchronization.

Review the collection periodically

Delete unneeded screenshots through the relevant app’s supported process, and retain necessary records in a location you can recover. A private album is most useful when you can find what you need without accumulating unexplained copies.
