What to check before choosing an offline photo vault

Local storage, purchases, backups, and device loss require separate checks.

Local storage has a specific meaning

An app can store photos locally while using network services for purchases, support, or optional analytics. “Offline vault” should describe where files are stored and whether you can open them without a connection; it should not imply that every feature is disconnected.

Test your everyday workflow

Use a sample photo to test opening the vault and viewing an imported image without a connection. Test after closing and reopening the app as well. Features such as purchasing or restoring an entitlement may need network access.

Account for phone loss

A local-only copy can be lost if the device is lost, reset, or damaged. Check app migration and device backup instructions before you rely on a local vault as the sole home for an important image.

PhotoSafe’s approach

PhotoSafe’s public listing describes an encrypted on-device photo vault. It includes PIN access, optional biometrics, and private albums. Review support guidance for your released version before reinstalling or changing phones.
